So far ive been set on the raven, but id like advice from people who have been here and done it.

So best gun to start out with?
FYI.
im not getting a gun to tattoo people. Im getting a gun to study for an apprenticeship.

i wont be tattooing anyone illegally.
thanks tho
Robert. i asked a question,i dont need a rude response. jesus.

and yes i have tattoos.. why would i want to be a tattoo artist if i knew nothing about it?. Anyways, purchasing a tattoo machine is not illegal here,so i will do so,without breaking any laws, theres nothing wrong about practicing on "tattoo skin".

thanks for the demeaning attiude though.

go with a TTs gun ( from technical tattoo supply). you dont need a license to buy a tattoo gun, what ever dumb a$$ thought that up is full of it.

i love tats and plan on getting many more ( i have 7) but im finding it very hard to finance these high price tattoo shops. i understand the art is the hard part i have that covered but is there a science to using the gun? is there a web site were i can go to find out more? any helpful hints are very appriciated.

There are alot of videos and books out there that can help alot just do an amazon search. You need to know the basic working of the machine and have some artistic talent aswell. You dont have to go to school or have a license to buy or use the gun. I recomend technical tattoo supply for a good kit. thats were i buy from for my shop.

Tattooing without a tattoo gun, can it be done?

If someone were wanting a tattoo could they get it without the use of a tattoo gun ? Liek say just a needle being stabbed repeatedly (to say it so crudely) into the skin so that it came out to be a permanant tattoo? And if you were wondering why I have this question its that I am planning on getting my first tattoo soon and I would rather not do it with a machine (got all my piercing from a needle not a gun, I like to keep my body modifications as natural as possible).

if you are looking for natural body modification, you need to do your homework. aside from hygenic reasons, it does not seem like a good idea for you to be placing permanent marks on your body without being properly informed. you chould definitely do some research on things such as the maori tribes in new zealand (those are the people with tattoos over 90% of their faces), as well as primitive african tribes that rely on tapping techniques - usually doen with a hammer-like instrument and a chiseled stick. you'd be surprised what they have in libraries nowadays. regardless, these 'natural' modifications are not usually done to yourself - you might want to practice on an orange first or something if you insist on not hiring a professional.

how to assemble a tattoo gun?

My friend bought his first tattoo gun, and it came with no assembly instructions. Is there any websites or advise out there.

Thanks in advance!
First off, he is not a boyfriend. Second, I have tattoos, and yes some people call them guns, and my tattoo artist did. I am asking for my friend, no reason to be an A$$ Rider (12NI)!
BTW I personally don't have cable to watch Miami Ink AND I DON'T CARE about TV shows!

The thing is hwne you order a tatto gun you are actually supposed to know how to assemble it. It doesn't come with instructions because it is not meant for an ametuer that has no training……

You actually are supposed to learn from the person you are apprenticing for…..

How do you make a homemade tattoo gun?

i can make a homemade tattoo gun but the only problem is with connecting the needle to the motor i use an eraser then the needle keeps shredding the eraser

Take the guitar string and bend a little bit of the end down or up.
File down the brass tip of the pen to get the ball out, make the hole big enough to allow passage of the needle.
Insert the needle into the pen.
Take the tooth brush and cut off the bristles making it about 4" long. Heat it up in the middle with a lighter and bend it in to a "7" and hold in place untill stiff.
Join/tape the pen needle assembly to the tooth brush.
Take the eraser from the pencil and shove it onto the shaft of the motor, try to get it as dead center as possible. Join the pen/needle/tooth brush to the motor/eraser assembly, tape the brush to the motor.
Take the bent part of the needle/guitar stirng and stick it into the eraser (Important - the needle must be purposely off center).
Find a power source. You could hook up some batteries to a switch and then to the contacts of the motor.

Tips
Tattoo ink can be made from paper ashes mixed with some water to thicken it. Use at your own risk! Your best bet is to use pelicans black ink or talens black india ink.

Warnings
You risk blood poisoning unless you use proper tattoo ink.
If you share the tattoo gun, you risk hepatitis, HIV, etc.
Tattoos are for life, so it is best to get them done professionally or you may regret it.
You could electrocute yourself.

Things You'll Need
bic pen (this is your tube that houses the smallest needle.
toothbrush (this gets bent like a "7" and joins the pen to the motor)
an eraser from a pencil (this joins the shaft of the motor to the needle/guitar string)
small battery operated motor (from a "walkman" or a hand held fan)

where do the wires from the power supply go on the tattoo gun?

August 20th, 2008

I need to know how the wires connect to my gun (tattoo)

I think people come on here with these questions to seriously annoy us. There is no way anyone should be answering this stuff here. Tattooing is not a hobby or something to "dabble" in so that you don't even know how a tattoo machine works!?

If you are so hellbent on self-tattooing or learning on your own without a mentor, you best be getting your hands on every book known to man on the subject and get a clear understanding of what you are facing before you even think about running a machine.

You cannot learn how to tattoo on Yahoo answers.

How does a bamboo tattoo compare to an electric gun tattoo?

August 19th, 2008

Do bamboo tattoos last as long as a tattoo from an electric tattoo gun? Any other advantages or disadvantages to either one?

I do believe that bamboo tattoos are much more painful compared to electric tattoo guns. I know that it's the traditional way in some oriental countries to get a bamboo tattoo. I don't think one lasts any longer than the other though.
